However, it has not just the question of accessibility which has made people chose to go organic, studies suggest that one of the main reasons cited for eating organic food is for health benefits. If you ask people about why they chose to eat organic food many will reply that they believe it to be more “natural” than food produced using conventional farming methods. Organic food is prohibited from using any seed or crop which has been genetically modified. This is proving to be an important factor for many people who find the unknown health risks involved with GM produce (which remains unlabelled and untested) to be undesirable.
Organic farming is only permitted to use seven of the thousands of artificial additives on its produce which are used in conventional farming methods.
There is no known case of BSC in any organic beef and none of the organic cattle are allowed to be fed on commercial food processing waste
